Concrete Pools

One of the most popular types of in ground pools are concrete in ground pools. Concrete pools, also called Gunite or Shotcrete pools, are truly a customized undertaking. Whatever size, shape, length or depth of pool you might want, pool companies can typically meet your needs by doing a concrete pool.

The concrete is shot through a gun into steel-reinforced walls. Once the concrete is dry, it is smoothed out, painted and finished with some kind of synthetic surface or tiled.

If you pool is going to be on a hillside, you may also get a concrete pool, but constructed in a different fashion. The concrete is formed and poured sort of how a foundation for a house would be poured. This is called structural concrete.

Concrete pools typically take longer than other kinds of pools to install, but it is definitely the strongest. In fact, some of the best and oldest pools (even the ones over 50 years old!) are made from concrete. Additionally, pools made of concrete can be updated, enlarged and remodeled.
