Landscaping Your Pool

Sure, you may be getting a pool, but have you given thought to the landscaping that will go around it? Landscaping around a pool is a process in and of itself, but a necessary one. With enough thought, planning, and execution, you can have the luxurious yard you've always dreamed of.

First, your pool company may do landscaping themselves. If this is the case, make sure you know what they're planning. Be sure to have a say in what goes in your yard, as you're the one that has to look at it...and care for it. If your pool company does not do the landscaping, they may partner with a landscaping company that does. Ask them for recommendations, but don't be afraid to shop around for price and rapport if you don't like their recommendation.

Remember, during flora selection, you want things that are low maintenance enough that you can enjoy your pool without it being a constant source of work, but nice enough that it will complement your beautiful backyard. Choose things that do not release too much summer debris, as this will collect in your pool. Consider trees that will grow to provide a little shade on the pool deck, as some swimmers may want some relief from the constant sun. And be wary of things that can bend and break in extreme summer weather occurrences.

Finally, don't be persuaded to invest in landscaping that is out of your budget. There are plenty of beautiful bushes, flowers and trees to give you the backyard of your dreams without breaking the bank. You just spent a lot of money on your pool. While you'll have to spend a little more for the finishing touched of landscaping, you do not have go bankrupt to do so.
