Pool Parties

People love a good pool party. Everyone from kids to adults can appreciate the appeal of a poolside fiesta, complete with sun, cocktails and laughs, all in the gleaming reflection of that turquoise oasis.

In order to throw a good pool party, one must abide by the following rules:

1. Safety First

Nothing can spoil a great party like danger. Make sure that you follow basic safety precautions. Never let kids who can't swim near a pool. If you're concerned about swimmers, consider hiring a per-hour lifeguard. Never let anyone swim who has had too much to drink. Alcohol and sun can be a serious situation, so supply plenty of drinking water for your guests. And finally, don't forget to keep a side stash of sunscreen for your guests to reapply throughout the day.

2. Lots of fun for the kids!

Kids look forward to adult pool parties almost as much as adults look forward to adult pool parties. Make sure your pool is stocked with fun toys and games to allow the kids to play all day. To make sure adults get swim time too, allocate several 30 minute "adult swim" times, where the kids can find a fun lawn game to play.

3. Keep the drinks flowing

Nothing says "pool party" like some great cocktails. In addition to the basics like beer and wine, keep your bar flowing with summery drinks like margaritas, daquiris, and the hot drink of now, mojitos.
